The Baguio Annual Flower Festival is back in full blast!
Baguio City, Philippines – The Panagbenga Flower Festival, one of the most highly anticipated events in the country, officially kicked off with a vibrant and colorful parade on February 1, 2023.
Thousands of visitors flocked to the mountain city to witness the grand parade, which featured a showcase of indigenous costumes. The streets were alive with the sounds of traditional music and the upbeat rhythm of marching bands, as participants danced and paraded through the city, waving to the enthusiastic crowds.
The theme of this year’s festival, “A Renaissance of Wonder and Beauty” was reflected in the showcasing the of the unique cultural heritage of the Cordillera region of the Philippines.
The highlight of the parade was the much-anticipated Drum and Lyre competition contestants from four elementary schools in the City.
The festival is expected to continue for the next several days, with a series of cultural performances, competitions, and exhibitions, climaxing on the 25th of February with the Grand Street Dance Parade and the 26th with the Grand Float Parade where local communities and organizations will display their creativity and horticultural expertise in constructing stunning floats made entirely of fresh flowers. Celebrities have also traditionally participated so we expect to see some this year.
