The 116th Baguio Charter Day was celebrated on September 1, 2025, to commemorate the city’s chartering by the Philippine Commission in 1909. The celebration was a month-long series of festivities with the theme “One Baguio: Diverse Roots, Shared Dreams”.
Event highlights
- Anniversary Program: The official Charter Day program was held on September 1 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center, led by city officials.
- Civic Parade: A parade featuring various sectors, including government agencies, schools, and ethnic groups, proceeded from the convention center to Malcolm Square. Philippine Military Academy cadets were among the participants.
- Baguio Country Fair: As a main highlight, a “Melting Pot of Cultures” fair was held on Session Road from August 31 to September 1, showcasing the diverse cultures that contribute to Baguio’s identity. The fair featured exhibits, crafts, and performances from groups including the Ibaloi, Kankana-ey, Ilocano, and Filipino-Chinese communities.
- Fireworks Display: SM City Baguio concluded the September 1st festivities with a fireworks display.
- Run Baguio: The “Run Baguio – 6 Hours Endurance” was held in honor of Charter Day on September 21, 2025.
- Baguio Vogue: An ethnic-themed fashion show, “Baguio Vogue: Where Fashion Meets Culture,” took place on September 20 at the Baguio Convention Center.
