Facemasks Now Optional In Baguio Outdoors

Mayor signs Executive Order relaxing face mask outdoors.

Baguio City Mayor Magalong issued Executive Order 107-22 on September 12 allowing the wearing of face masks to be optional in the city in outdoor low-risk settings.

The general population is asked to continue wearing their face masks when outside, especially those who are immune-compromised people.

The mayor also stressed that the goal is still to get as many people vaccinated as possible.  The  Department of Health continues to have immunization sites available and accessible in different parts of the city. Covid-19 testing stations are still available, and the triage unit at the Baguio Convention Center continues to function.

According to the directive, face mask wearing are voluntary in open areas of the city that are not congested and have sufficient ventilation.

Senior elderly, people with impaired immune systems, and people who aren’t fully or partially immunized are highly advised to continue wearing face masks.

The new order is in line with the Philippine President’s executive order that states face masks may be worn voluntarily in open areas and unpopulated, well-ventilated outdoor venues.

However, the rule requires the wearing of face masks within private or public buildings, on public transit, and in open spaces where physical distancing may not be maintained.
